Craft an easy melon ball salad for your dolls...

Serve this Summer melon ball salad inside a
hollow watermelon bowl.
This deliciously fun colorful salad is the perfect addition to any doll's picnic this summer and it's so easy to make!

 Supply List:

  • Styrofoam balls
  • Styrofoam half egg
  • acrylic paints: red, orange, shades of green
  • white school glue
  • Mod Podge
Step-by-Step Instructions:
  1. Paint the interior of the Styrofoam half egg brilliant red just like the interior of a watermelon would be.
  2. Paint the out half of the foam egg pale green. Let it dry completely.
  3. Now paint zig-zag or wavy dark green, thick lines around the melon. Space these designs out all the way down the sides of the half egg to the bottom. Let the paint dry completely.
  4. Turn the faux watermelon bowl right side up and fill the interior with white school glue. Press Styrofoam balls into the glue and let these dry.
  5. Slowly add more Styrofoam balls to the top of each layer of glue until the melon ball salad looks as abundant as you like.
  6. After the glue has dried overnight, paint the melon balls red for the watermelon, orange for the cantelope melon and green for the honeydew melon.
  7. Cut a small oval of green Styrofoam sheet and glue this to the bottom of the watermelon bowl to prevent it from rolling all over the place during your doll's picnic!
  8. Seal the entire project with Mod Podge to help keep the salad durable for play.

Right, a thin piece of green sheet foam cut into an oval and glued on the bottom of the Styrofoam
egg to keep it from rolling around the doll's kitchen table.
