Mindori Doll from UNIMAX International Doll Series

Our lovely Japanese doll called, Mindori, is from a 1995(96) series of International dolls sold at Target. This series had many dolls in it's line some of them were from: China, England, North and South Korea, Scotland, Uganda, Sweden, Kenya, Mexico, Norway, Holland, Germany, Australia and Mexico.

A closeup of Mindori's hair style from Old Japan.

The text from the side of Mindori doll box reads:

"I am from the city of Tokyo, Japan. Like any modern city, we have tall buildings and busy streets, but my country is an old country with many ancient traditions. Our ritual of the tea ceremony or "cha-no-yu" is 600 years old!

I have a sister, a mother and father. Our home is small like most Japanese families'. It has only four rooms, but with thin , sliding walls we change with each activity.

At our evening family meal, we sit in the center of the room around a low table. I love to eat sashimi, prepared with raw fish and cold rice.

I am wearing the traditional Japanese dress called a kimono. Today, it is worn on special occasions. It is made of silk-even the thread is silk! It has long broad sleeves, wraps over in front and is tied with an obi.

I am wearing it to celebrate a joyous holiday for girls called Hina Matsuri, the Doll's Festival. We invite our friends over for tea parties and bring our collection of dolls to show. It is a custom for Japanese women to collect dolls throughout their lives, and pass them on from mother to daughter. My friend, someday I hope to have a daughter too."
