The finished versions of my American Girl Doll, scrap fabric pumpkin pie and slices. |
Step-by-Step craft process for fabric doll sized pumpkin pies. |
Supply List:
- fabric scraps
- recycled lid from jar
- gold metallic cup cake liners
- lace
- cotton batting
- hot glue and hot glue gun
- masking tape
- I first masked a recycled lid with tape so that the glue would adhere to it's surface better. You do not need to include this step if you don't have masking tape on hand. Have a bit of cotton stuffing to put inside the lid. The fluffier the stuffing, the bigger the pumpkin pie.
- Cut a circle from orange scrap fabric to glue on top of the stuffed lid. I only put the glue around the outside edges of the lid a bit at a time so that I could keep my project neat and clean.
- Layer a bit of orange lace over the pumpkin skin for depth. I also glued ivory lace trims to suggest whip cream on the surface of the pumpkin skin and around the edges.
- Shape a few individual pie slices from cardboard and masking tape as well.
- Cover these in the same way that you did for the larger, unsliced pumpkin pie.
- Trim these with lace for a fanciful effect. Cut and trim gold metallic cup cake liners and hot glue these around the edges of your pumpkin pie and slices to give the project a finished, professional look.
Grandma's Pumpkin Pies
Author Unknown
My mother's pies are very good
For common days, but O my eyes!
You ought to be at Grandma Gray's,
Were we all go Thanksgiving Days,
And taste of Grandma's pumpkin pies.
The aunts and uncles all are there,
And cousins, too, of every size;
And when the turkey's "had his day,"
And grandma's pudding's stowed away,
Then next will come the pumpkin pies.
Oh, apple pie is very good,
And chocolate, cream and mince, likewise;
But if you knew my Grandma Gray,
And tried her cooking, you would say,
"Hurrah for grandma's pumpkin pies!"
