Sew your own doll sized tree skirts and make them reversible so that the themes for your faux trees may change from year to year. The skirts may also be hot glued together if you don't feel like sewing it.
Use a fancy trim to finish the edges neatly. I measured across the stands of my miniature trees so that the roundish skirts would cover the footed pieces. This measurement will probably be different for your doll's tree so I haven't bothered to include my measurements here.
Children can measure and cut a circle from paper first to make sure the fabric will indeed cover your tree's stand. Then pin this paper to the top of your fabric and cut around the pattern leaving approximately 1/2 inch extra seam allowance to ensure there is enough fabric to turn under or cover that extra amount of floor space if you haven't measured accurately.
Fold the fabric in half and cut out a small half pie shape at the center point.
Then cut down one side only of the skirt to leave and opening for the skirt to be wrapped around the trunk of the tree.
Attach a pretty trim with hot glue or by using hand stitching to the outer edge.
This tree skirt combines the traditional red, green and white colors of Christmas. One side is a dark green solid the other has a peppermint novelty print. |
This reversible tree skirt has a lovely pine cone print and ruffle on one side and a rustic burlap on its' flip side, for a country/woodland themed tree. |
