When real girls could become paper dolls...

Real paper doll named Sefako Ketosugbo or paper doll number 23.

The American Girl magazine was run by the American Girl company. It was started by the Pleasant Company in Middleton, Wisconsin in 1992, with the first issue dated January 1993. Aimed towards girls ages 8–14, the bimonthly magazine included articles, recipes, advice columns, fiction, arts and crafts, and activity ideas. American Girl announced in late 2018 that the January/February 2019 issue would be the magazine's last.

Four more paper dolls: Stephanie Sutton, Christy Nock, Kaleen Long, and Emily Zeroun.

In publications of the magazine prior to 2001, girls could send in family history and photos for the staff at the magazine to make them into paper dolls. Only six girls a year were chosen for the series that published 50 real American girl dolls!

Real paper doll named Sarah Streit or paper doll number 24.

We purchased our selection of real American Girl paper dolls from auctions. Each doll came with a stand, one doll, a mini book describing the girl's family lineage and four costumes for trying on the doll.
