Hi,
ReplyDeleteWe were so excited to find your post about Faithful Friends dolls because we love Heidi Ott dolls and have quite a few. We have never seen the dress your Maggie has though, it is lovely. Do you know if it is one that would have been bought separately (there were some you could buy separately) or if it is handmade instead of official?
Of the Faithful Friends, we have Ben(School outfit series, most likely s3), Beth (ours came without her original outfit but with a couple of different Heidi Ott outfits), Hannah (we have Series 1 - Prarie outfit, and Series 2 - Victorian - the lovely pink silky dress), Ellie (series 1 - pink checked dress), Maggie (ours is series 2 - victorian - the lovely green velvet dress. We also have T01 from her school children line who is basically Maggie s1 sailor dress), Daniel, and Maria. Of the FF's the only one we don't have is Will (and, I guess Jacob - but I am not convinced he is a FF - I have never seen a box for Jacob. I am sure he is of her School Children line -T29 is called Jacob and the image of him matches to the Jacob I have seen people mention).
Anyway, we just wanted to say we absolutely love seeing another person talking about Heidi Ott dolls - we have been doing a lot of research into them lately (which has resulted in spreadsheets trying to keep track of and identify all the different dolls in her different lines, and us adding lots of info we find to our own blog - haha).
Anyway, we were very glad to find your post because there are so few people talking about Heidi Ott dolls on the internet! There used to be more but they are slowly dissapearing.
I believe that this dress is handmade for two reasons. The first being that there is no labels on any of the clothing and most folks would not remove these. The second reason being that there are many buttons included on the garments and this is not the case on other Faithful Friends costumes.
ReplyDeleteDo you think the boots are original? I don't know.
You are right about many articles disappearing, so sad...
Just from what I can see, they look like they are original boots, but if you can show more pictures of them I would be more confident on identifying them. The socks look original too.
DeleteMy guess would be that the boots and socks look like the ones that came with the "country collection" Maggie (green plaid dress, S05).
I don't know if this will be any use but I'll attach a link to one of our pages about Faithful Friends so you can see the outfit we talk about in the country collection. (https://pumpkinthedoll.wordpress.com/faithful-friends-2/).
Also, on worthpoint there is this example of that outfit which shows the boots and socks quite well (https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/heidi-ott-faithful-friends-doll-3059144580) and if your boots match this, then she likely would have originally had that dress (also included).
Hope this helps!
I've uploaded a photo of these socks and boots. Do your original doll boots have the same kind-of dusty teal color? Perhaps this feature may identify the authenticity of the Faithful Friends original clothing.
DeleteI mean the coloring is on the interior of the boots as seen in the new photo above...
DeleteThe boots look like our doll Hannah's boot except ours are brown instead of black. I think the inside colour depended on what material they had available because our dolls have different materials inside
DeleteThat makes sense to me too. I think these are perhaps the only original clothing pieces for this particular doll. Thanks for your input so much!
