Sometimes early mass produced dolls were named "Topsy" which is a reference to Topsy-Turvy dolls that have two sides, one above the skirt and one below. The doll above is not a Topsy-Turvy, however. She is made from composition. Her braids are threaded through holes in her head. Her checkered jumper was probably green or red. |
This little doll with the three little braids is Topsy. Nearly every one thinks that Topsy is the cutest doll that has ever been seen. She didn't look very happy when this photograph was taken. Perhaps she feared that her dog Spot was going to take a bite out of her bread.
