Daisy scrap paper doll, poem and mini book page...

LITTLE golden-hearted Daisy
Told the sun that she felt lazy;
Said the earth was quite too wet,
She thought she would n’t open yet.

       Assemble a mini doll sized book: Right, is the Daisy's illustration and verse. Visitors can collect all the flower illustrations and verse from "Flower Children" to print and construct a small book of verse for their dolls. Simply drag each png. into a Word Document, print, cut out all of the images the same size and staple the pages together at the left edge. Squeeze out some white school glue along the stapled edge of the pages and attach a cardboard cover.

The scientific name for Daisy is Bellis perennis. Read more about these flowers here.

        Use the Victorian scrap below to make your very own Daisy paper doll. Print her from your home computer, cut her torso and head out and then paste a skirt made from fabric, lace, ribbons or fancy papers. Attach a print-out of fancy shoes to the bottom of her skirt. Scrap paper dolls were often hung from Christmas trees by Victorians over 100 years ago but you could make an entire floral inspired set of dolls to display in your room, hanging from garland or just to collect for fun!

The Daisy by Mason Good

Not worlds on worlds in phalanx deep,
Need we to prove that God is here;
The daisy, fresh from winter's sleep,
Tells of His hand in lines clear.

For who but He who arched the skies,
And poured the day-spring's living flood,
Wondrous alike in all He tries,
Could rear the daisy's purple bud;

Mould its green cup, its wiry stem,
Its fringed border nicely spin,
And cut the gold-embossed gem
That, set in silver, gleams within;

And fling it, unrestrained and free,
O'er hill, and dale, and desert sod,
That man, where'er he walks, may see,
At every step the stamp of God!
