Some of our readers may have guessed, by some of the posting of fairy tales at our blog, it is my plan to develop hand-crafted play sets/items for fairy tale character dolls. Given that there are so many dolls based upon fairy tales produced in today's contemporary market place, not to mention the countless available older versions sold at auction, it can be difficult for me to pick and choose the doll types I will use for future projects at times.
The decision to make room decor and play items for Belle was an easy one, however; she was a popular fairy tale character with my own two girls. They grew up with many versions of her story in their bookcases and each of them wore Belle costumes for Halloween long ago. Our family had to see every Beauty and The Beast film, and purchased many well-loved toys representing this fairy tale princess, none of which survived in good enough condition to photograph for our doll blog, I might add.
I purchased this version of Belle at auction. I found her realistic appearance fresh and new.
This playscale, Disney doll is based upon the live-action remake adaptation of the animated feature, "Beauty and The Beast" from 1991. In it Belle is played by Emma Watson, a young benevolent bibliophile who develops feelings for the Beast. She sees what remains of his humanity after a enchantress curses his kingdom. Read more...
Her film version was released to theaters in 2017, and the Belle doll made by Hasbro has a similar appearance to that of the actress who plays her. I've linked to some fan video below that cover her coloring, articulation and size too.
