Ireland's Shamrock

The shamrock is the national flower of Ireland, just as the thistle is of Scotland and the rose is of England. If you will look carefully at the British coat-of-arms you will see the three flowers growing from one stem. It is a triple leaved delicate little plant, very much like the white clover. It grows on the stone walls, and by the roadside where the soil is poor and trodden hard, and so insignificant is it that we overlooked it entirely at first. But tho plain to our eyes, it is beautiful to the Irish people. They love it and never fail to wear it on St. Patrick's day. The little children are taught to love it too, and to cry "Erin go bragh," which means ''Ireland forever."

Craft a Shamrock, teach about the Holy Trinity.
