Cut and Paste Your Doll's Campfire

The finished paper mache campfire for our 18" dolls.
This paper mache campfire for our 18" dolls is made from: toilet paper tubes, brown paper bags, orange and yellow construction paper, orange foam, cardboard, glue, permanent ink pen and brown paint.
It's cardboard flames can be switched in and out of the slots between the paper tube logs to make either a small or large campfire. You can also remove the flames altogether to pretend that the logs are not in use.

The raw materials in this project are easy to find around the house and cost very little.
To begin making the campfire simply cut the toilet rolls in half in order to retape these into thinner log shapes with masking tape. Then tape the logs together in the shape of a campfire.
Use a permanent black ink marker to draw details on the logs. Then paint with acrylic brown shades where ever you like to add more features and color to your logs.
Then take your scissors and score the paper across the top and on the sides of the logs so that you can slip cardboard flames between them.
I like the cartoon like quality of these logs; I think I will leave some of the brown paper bag unpainted.
Cut out the flame shapes from more cardboard. Cover them with glue and construction paper. I used orange and yellow. Some fire might include blue and red flames as well if you would like to increase the colors on your fire-like flames.
I also glued on orange foam pieces to mix up the textures. Now you are ready to play with your doll's campfire!
I still need to give this doll campfire a coat or two of Mod Podge in order to preserve the surfaces during play.
