Craft doll sized deviled eggs...

Finished "deviled" egg appetizers.
Deviled eggs (also known as stuffed eggs, Russian eggs, or dressed eggs) are hard-boiled eggs that have been shelled, cut in half, and filled with a paste made from the egg yolks mixed with other ingredients such as mayonnaise and mustard. They are generally served cold as a side dish, appetizer or a main course during gatherings or parties. The dish's origin can be seen in recipes for boiled, seasoned eggs as far back as ancient Rome, where they were traditionally served as a first course. The dish is popular in Europe and in North America.
Our family serves deviled eggs as appetizers during the holidays. Especially at Easter Dinner as these are often made from the hard-boiled eggs that have been previously dyed on the Saturday just prior to Easter Sunday. We also serve these eggs on New Year's Eve/Day as well.
Our 18" doll size version of deviled eggs are made using pistachio nut shells, a bit of yellow, white and red paint and Sculpey oven bake clay.
  1. First I smeared the clay in the inside of a tiny shell and then rolled a clay ball to stick onto the top side where the "egg mixture" would would be located on top of a real deviled egg.
  2. Then I pricked this with a toothpick to give it texture.
  3. Bake in 275 degree oven inside the pistachio nut shell. Sculpey clay doesn't shrink at all as it hardens inside the oven. So it is a perfect choice for layering inside of shells and baking everything all together as you proceed.
  4. Paint the appetizers using white, and yellow acrylics.
  5. Then squeeze out a tiny red dot on top using puff paints. This represents the pimento; no respectable deviled egg is complete without the pimento.
  6. Brush the finished deviled eggs with clear acrylic. Let items dry.

I purchase a "plink" container with a product to clean my dishwasher. After using it all,
I washed it out to recycle for this project. It makes and adorable deviled egg
container for the doll refrigerator.
