Pansies like the shaded places;
With their little friendly faces,
Always seem to smile and say:
"How are all the folks to-day?"

Assemble a mini doll sized book: Right, is the Pansy's
illustration and verse. Visitors can collect all the flower illustrations
and verse from "Flower Children" to print and construct a small book of
verse for their dolls. Simply drag each png. into a Word Document,
print, cut out all of the images the same size and staple the pages
together at the left edge. Squeeze out some white school glue along the
stapled edge of the pages and attach a cardboard cover.
The scientific name for Pansy is Viola × wittrockiana. Learn more about this flower here.
Use the Victorian scrap below to make your very own Pansy
paper doll. Print her from your home computer, cut her torso and head
out and then paste a skirt made from fabric, lace, ribbons or fancy
papers. Attach a print-out of fancy shoes to the bottom of her skirt. Scrap paper dolls
were often hung from Christmas trees by Victorians over 100 years ago
but you could make an entire floral inspired set of dolls to display in
your room, hanging from garland or just to collect for fun!
Pansies
The dear little pansies are lifting their heads,
All purple and blue and gold;
They're covering with beauty the garden beds
And hiding from sight the dull mould.
The dear little pansies they nod and they smile,
Their faces turned toward the sky;
"We're trying to make the world pretty and bright."
They whisper to each passer-by.
Now all little children who try every day,
Kind-hearted and loving to be.
We're helping the pansies to make the world bright,
And beautiful, do you not see?
Another Short Verse
There's something good about pansies
That's worth your while to know;
The more they are plucked and given away
The more they are sure to grow.
