How to craft a pillar candle for the dollhouse...

A red faux pillar candle decorated for Christmas.

Every dollhouse could be made more attractive by the addition of pretend candles during the holidays. This pillar candle decorated with a festive display of holly + berries surrounding it's base would look charming on a side table, on top of a hearth or even at the center of a dinning table.
It's easy to make with the following supplies: a bottle cap, paper, masking tape, white school glue and hot glue, plus a pen tip or toothpick. You will also need a tiny sprig of holly and berries and a bit acrylic paint to match the paper used for the pillar candle itself.
Cut strips of red paper approximately two inches wide to roll the pillar candle with. Start it off by wrapping it about a toothpick or pen tip. Smear on a bit of white school glue as you roll the paper tightly around and around the pick.
Line the inside of a recycled bottle cap with masking tape. Then firmly hot glue the rolled 'candle' to the inside of the inverted bottle cap.
Hot glue the holly and berries in a pleasing arrangement about the base of the pillar candle.
Squeeze the hot glue about the top of the pillar with some of it dripping down the sides to create the illusion of the faux candle having been burned. Now paint this hardened hot glue the same color of red used to roll the pretend pillar candle. If you choose to make a green or white candle, then paint this glue the color of the alternative selection in just the same manner.
