Left basket of mums and toadstools made for our doll's Welsh cupboard. Right, tiny stacked pink and rust, velveteen pumpkins. |
These inexpensive Autumn decorations for the dollhouse were made using tiny faux pumpkins, mums and toadstools purchased from a Dollar Store or Dollar General. They are assembled with hot glue for the most part.
Left, form for a fall candle display. Right, the candle finished and more pumpkin clusters. See how to make a Christmas pillar candle craft here. |
I made the pillar candle using a plastic cap, paper roll, hot glue and silk decorations from the Dollar Store too. Paint the faux candle with acrylics after making "wax drips" with a hot glue gun, to make the display realistic looking.
Choose a variety of colors and textures that compliment your dollhouse colors. I purchased faux pumpkins decorated with glitter, some others covered with Velveteen fabric and even tinier pumpkins covered with nylon. Between these pieces I glued in yellow and red silk flowers.
Left, use a cap to prop up pumpkin displays. Right, stack of three pumpkins and yellow mums. |
I chose the deep colored teal pumpkins for our dollhouse because of my fondness for blues... Above you can see the cap that I covered with silk leaves and mounted one pumpkin on top of. This is just yet another way to make a display with a bit of height.
Below is the long and narrow display that I made for the doll's table using wooden toadstools glued between a row of teal pumpkins. I painted the caps red and then added white polka-dots. To finish the look, I then hot glued tiny red and yellow silk mums in the gaps between the pumpkins and toadstools.
Above, I glued the blue pumpkins and wooden toadstools together before painting the caps and gluing the silk mums in between the Velveteen pumpkins. |
