Close up views of our felt Halloween trick-or-treat bags. |
These miniature felt candy bags are quick and easy to make. You could put them together with fabric glue if you don't yet know how to use a needle and thread. The felt characters may be found in any local hobby shop, dollar store or at a Walmart or Target.
Supply List:
- felt Halloween novelty pieces (I purchase these from Hobby Lobby)
- tacky white glue
- plastic wiggly eyes
- multicolored embroidery floss
- black thread
- black and dark purple felt squares (or any color you would like)
- embroidery needle
- two wood-look beads
Step-by-Step Directions:
- For each bag you will need to cut two rectangles measuring 2"x 3 1/2" and two long strips of felt - one 5 1/2"x 3/4" and the other for the handle at 9"x 1/2."
- Sew together the felt strip to the length, width, and length of each rectangle so that these three pieces come together to form a pouch. Use a straight stitch and plain black thread for this.
- Then attach the long felt handle to each side with a stitch or two.
- Then you can add a fancy embroidery stitch around the outside edges like ours if you have skill in this.
- Glue on the felt Halloween novelty pieces where ever you like.
- Add some plastic wiggle eyes to the pumpkin with tacky white glue and let dry
- Stitch on a bead to just one side of your bag near the top.
- Attach a loop of floss to the opposite side so that it may be hooked over the bead to close the bag shut. You don't want the dolls to loose all of their candy after a night of trick-or-treating!
Our dolls can't wait to fill these up with all kinds of holiday treats! |
